No help at JoAnn's

So I bought this book at JoAnn's and wanted to make a scarf like one I saw in it. I found a lady that worked at Joann's and made the mistake of showing her what I wanted to make and then telling her I wasn't much of a sewer. She said she thought I couldn't do it, then wouldn't show me where anything was. When I read from the materials list and said, What is Poplin and where is it? She'd say cotton and on the cotton isle. Everything I asked for, it went something like that! Finally, I got frustrated, and walked away! lol. Well, I got what supplies i thought I could work with and here's the finished project. I feel like going back to JoAnn's and showing that chick! Geesh!

That's it above the book! I know I had to scan it, so it turned out to just be a portion of it for now. The whole thing, later, when I can get someone to help me with the camera. I was just so mad, I wanted to show someone I could do it, I guess..lol

It's beautiful Nancy!! I got frustrated for you over your "helpful" worker.....It's a shame, I'm only 36 and rather disguisted with our "customer service" in todays society...and have been for quite some years now. What would people who lived 100 years ago think of us?
You did a fabulous job, Kudos!!

I love the scarf! I may have to try to make one, too. I had to leave a comment because I had a similar experience at Hancock's yesterday trying to get muslin to paint and some upholstery fabric to glue on for a journal. I couldn't get them to give me the discount that they, not me, were advertising on the product. They finally didn't give me the 40 per cent off discount on a piece of burlap I bought and I just finally gave in. I told one of my friends later that it reminded me of going to a foreign open air market where you have to haggle over prices. Then I came back to look around your blog further and read your story. Maybe they can just smell weakness at the fabric stores because i am not much of a sewer either.
Thanks for visiting my blog. I am really enjoying blogland.
Cheers,
Trish G.

Too funny. That is the way most fabric stores are. I can't tell you how many times I've helped customers out of pity. Where's the scarf?
