Tis The Season To Collage.

I love collage even more during the fall and winter months. They are my favorite times of the year. Call me crazy, but something about the hot weather being over revives me. I love the smell of the wood stoves burning, seeing the colorful leaves falling, and the brisk days. I am happy to be able to live in a place where I can truly see the season colors. When the snow comes, the little that I get, maybe 6-7 days a year, I am like a child waiting for Santa. I get up many times, through the night to see if it's here yet. I know those of you that get tons are cursing me now, or are surely thinking me nutty, but I am a former So Cal girl that had never seen snow fall before moving here so bare with now!
Now back to collage, the real thing I intended to talk about today...

Switching Gears

It's that time of the year when things really get hectic for me. Shows, stores pulling at me, Etsy, classes to be taught, and so on. I never seem to start early enough. I guess I could do Christmas all year and never really have enough. There's just something about working on Christmas in 100 degree heat that doesn't get it for me. Ya know?
Here's some of the things I have been doing. Some are on ETSY in both shops.

Baby Mia Watches History Be Made, Binky And All.

My polling place reminds me of Mayberry, It's an old VFW Hall, and every time I walk in it, I think Mayberry. For the 30 years I've lived here I have always felt like that for some reason. I just don't know why. I even voted on a paper ballot with a marking pen.

When A CHILD Is Born, So Is A GRANDMOTHER...

OMG...baby Mia is here 1 month early!!!!!! It all started out as a normal morning, til the 7am phone call. Aimee's water broke! We rushed to the hospital and 13 hours later she came along. She's a preemie, she's now 4 pounds, 13 ounces and is 18 inches long. Such a petite little thing. What a thrill being in the delivery room. Such a gift for grandparents to share! Her name is Mia Sophia Regnier. The joy of our lives.

So, Life Goes On...

I went straight to the ER, nothing broken, but I've had to go to an Orthopedic Surgeon 2x had 2 xrays and an ultrasound on it as I've had a previous broken leg, blood clot and knee surgery on that leg before. I have a huge hematoma on it. Looks like I have 2 knees. Drs. couldn't believe my leg wasn't broken and neither could I the amount of pain I was in. So now, I am walking with a cane and trying to stay off it for it to heal in time for the baby to get here. (yeah, right me stay off it) I haven't driven since that day. It's driving me crazy.
Needless to say, I guess Aimee lost a friend that day as the mother of the child now won't speak to her at work anymore. I guess she thought we provided free babysitting or something. The joke was on us!

The Good, The Bad, And the Ugly

It was a special day. My daughter's baby shower. My FIRST grandchilds upcoming arrival! My friend Cindee offered her vintage home, which was perfect for our sheet music, birdie and babies theme. We planned for weeks and weeks. Not just the decorating, the games, the handmade prizes, the food, Cindee's delicious cupcakes and so on. We brought out all the vintage cake tiers and glassware, cut glass, you get the picture or will.

Anyway, we spread the word that this was to be a ladies only event. With over 30 people coming and many with small children we felt for everyone's sanity that would be best. Imagine our surprise when the last guest arrived with a 19 month in tow. We hoped for the best!

What we got was a little different than that.

At first everyone ooohed and ahhhed at everything she did and laughed at all the funny little things she did. MISTAKE!!!!!

Then she started in like a hurricane. We were playing classical lullabyes. I guess she didn't like them. She banged away at the 100 year old piano. On and on. Her mother did nothing. next she went on to touch the little scenes I had made under glass domes with vintage baby things in them. She was so fast she pulled everything out, the rattles, booties and so on, threw them on the floor. Another lady came to the rescue on that one. Next, I heard, she went in the kitchen and turned on 3 burners while Cindee was serving. All the while, her mother sat there. UNBELIEVABLE! By this time I was a wreck. Finally, she came over in my area and grabbed a sharp object and I jumped up to grab it and disaster struck and I fell down trying to save her lol and here is the ugly of it all!

Max Adjusts...

At 18 pounds he's been the only real baby here for as long as he's been born. With Mia's upcoming arrival I think he's realizing something's going on. New things being brought in the house. The excitement and so on. He's no dummy! I am sure he's even noticed Aimee's tummy by now! I think this pictures says it all...

Red Wing Katrina...Such A Find!

Sweet! Found this Katrina in my treasure hunting the other day. At first I thought I'd keep her, but then I thought cookie jars aren't really my thing so I put her on ebay. She must have been either a display piece or from someone's collection because she's in perfect condition! She really is sweet.

I Call Her SMOKEY

I call her SMOKEY because I took this during the fires. Since then she still comes every day with the babies. This was taken from my living room window, she comes real close, into my back yard. Such a glorious sight!

I love this life and am thankful for it everyday!

My Little Serenity

I am not much of a gardener but here is my little space for calming and tranquility. Most of that I get through my art, but when outdoors here's what I see. Oh, and take special notice of the friends that come to visit daily. They bring their babies but they are too quick for me to snap. They run like kangaroos.

USA BASKETBALL

Yes, I am a fan. A crazy one at that. I can hardly wait for each game. I have to admit I haven't seen every game, because of some of the odd hours they have been on, but I am no less of a fan. I also, admit to being a Laker fan, love Kobe, well, all the Lakers for that matter and would love to go to a game someday. You see I live in Kings territory so I have to take a lot of slack for that. So that also means I have to take a lot of heat for being a Dodger fan too. Yikes! A lot of heat, all the time.

Such A Pretty Sight!

When you don't know what to do with small scraps of trim that is too pretty to throw away, just collage it around a tag and hang it in your sewing room or shabby chic or vintage home. Such a pretty sight!

A Few Of My Favorite Things...

Here is the entry to my studio and a few of my favorite things. I hope you enjoy seeing them too. It's a quiet 4th this year and I am glad of that, with the fires and all. Most things have been cancelled. I can hear the planes flying making water drops still. Eeery! They expect to have the fires contained by July 14th. That seems like forever away!
